Snow, snow everywhere

Camp Dixie Bridge In The Snow

Last Wednesday (January 31) the snow started falling and by Thursday afternoon, we had 6 inches of the white stuff in Dixie. We thought you all would enjoy seeing camp in her restful winter mode.

The move is finished. Email should be straightened out by next Monday (2006/09/18). Everything should still get to us in the meantime, it just might take a little longer.

Moving CampDixie.org
- airlie

I hope to be moving the Camp Dixie website sometime this week. During the move we might be a bit slow to respond to email. Immediately after the move the Echoes section and Miss Ann’s Memorial book will be down for a short time.

Finally, the lake is warm.
- Rhonda

Camp comes too early in lake warming time. Although, we definately enjoy swimming in the lake during the summer with its cool water. You would not believe how warm the lake is now! It feels wonderful.

As some of you know we are having a get together for the older ones (14 and up) this weekend at Discover Mills in Buford. Can’t wait to see everyone and hear about school. Jason and I will be looking for you on Saturday morning and we know that we will have an awesome time hanging out with you.

The next get together will be open for everyone and is planned for October. Let me know if you have any ideas for the gathering.

23 days and counting
- Rhonda

Counting the days until your arrival and as of today there are only 23 left. The staff will come in on May 28th for a week of training as well as some of the CT’s. We are excited about having Brett and Halley back with us this summer. Some past campers will be joining our staff this year. What fun to have our family back in Dixie.

It’s not to late to have your friends sign up for camp, space is still available. Can’t wait to see you all.

This weekend will find us doing a Mother’s Day Project either working on the cabinline roof or rails on the bridge in honor of Miss Ann. Jason and I started this tradition over 6 years ago with Miss Ann supervising us. I know that she will be looking down at us on Sunday.

Lake back up
- airlie

Well, of course the lake is back up and looking great. We replaced the steps going up to the dining hall, and the stairs going down to the rec hall. The power to the cabin line and rec hall has been rewired.

We are starting to get camp ready, the summer is creeping up on us, and there is lots left to do.

Busy, busy, busy.

Burning brush
- airlie

This weekend we burned brush. We had 2 fires going in the dry lake bed. It took a while and we all got sunburned, but it went pretty well. We moved some other brush and a few other things Sunday. It doesn’t seem like we did very much Sunday because we were all so tired from Saturday, but we were still pretty productive.

We will start filling the lake back up any day now.

Rhonda has given me the new forms for this year. I’ll try to get them posted soon.

- airlie

Well, it’s more than a bit late, but Merry Christmas! We didn’t have a white Christmas but we did have some snow last weekend.

It was brighter than it looks in the photos.
